Public Program: Joeri Woudstra – Millennial Nostalgia
Young artists, thinkers and writers discuss millennial nostalgia within Joeri Woudstra’s exhibition Millennial Gravestone Quotes. What does it mean to be a maker in our time? What is the influence and value of creative expressions in a strongly globalized society, in which the internet forms a second reality, and technology rushes past us? What inspires us, and how can we make a difference?
Designer Kevin Bray (ESAAB, Sandberg Institute, KABK) investigates design, performance and moving images, programmer Shane Burmania (Korzo, Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, Strange Sounds from Beyond) selects a contemporary music fragment, editor Olga Kortz (VICE I-D, Hard//Hoofd, Das Magazin) recites a text, artist Kareem Lofty (Rijksacademie 2014-2016) shows work, writer Alma Mathijsen (Parool, NRC, Vrij Nederland) makes a selfie-video and artist Tycho Posthumus (KABK, 2016) reflects on his work and contemporary photography.
And of course Joeri Woudstra elaborates on the exhibition and his versatile practice. Zippora Elders, artistic director of the Kunstfort and also a ‘millennial’ introduces and moderates the evening. Music and drinks afterwards.
