Ad de Jong
Since 2021, Ad de Jong’s outdoor sculpture All Rays on Us has stood on the fort island, offering visitors its radiance while enduring heat, snow, fierce southwesterly storms, and rain. Now, the time has come for the work to dissolve. For a little while longer, its various parts will remain visible, floating in the old poplar trees and wrapped in large, abstractly painted coverings.
The ritual dismantling of the artwork will take place over several weeks, led by the artist himself, together with residents of the SEIN care facility in Cruquius and volunteers from Kunstfort.
As part of this farewell, everyone is invited to add their own touch to the covering fabric by painting a shape or choosing a color, marking the conclusion of All Rays on Us through a shared, creative gesture.
SEIN is the national expertise center for epilepsy and sleep disorders.
This project is made possible in part by the Fonds Cultuurparticipatie.
With many thanks to Van der Kleij Textiles in Utrecht for the beautiful donated sheets.
