Weave a beginning at the end with us on Sunday, June 8!
A day with an Open Studio, student presentations, an ecological walk, and a transformation ritual.

We begin the afternoon with a story and a transformation ritual led by artist Dodi Espinosa, centered around his ‘ballerina sculptures,’ as part of the growing and gradually disappearing exhibition in the Genieloods, “We are woven to an end.”

Knitting enthusiasts are very welcome to help us start a large knitting project using fur wool that will accompany the exhibition.

In addition to this, second-year students from the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU), from the programmes Spatial, Fashion, and Product Design, will present the results of their research into art with an expiration date, spread across the fort island.
For those curious about the fort’s natural surroundings, our ecology program curator Mariken Straat will lead a walk across the biodiverse island of the Kunstfort.

And at the fort, Folkert de Jong will once again open his studio to visitors and share the exciting developments in his artistic research Oracles, focused on working with natural materials.

Program:
13:00 – 14:30 Transformation ritual with Dodi Espinosa
13:00 – 16:00 Wool washing & knitting
13:00 – 16:00 Open Studio: Folkert de Jong
14:00 – 16:00 HKU presentations
15:00 – 16:00 Ecological walk

We hope to see you at the fort!
