After last year’s mini-symposium ‘Rights of Nature’, D66 Haarlemmermeer-Aalsmeer, together with D66 members from North Holland, has taken the initiative for a follow-up gathering at and with the Kunstfort: Rights of Nature – Unlearning and Re-rooting.
The goal is to learn how to better include the rights of the landscape in decision-making. To make thinking about the interests of all nature, including the more-than-human, more self-evident.
Kunstfort Vijfhuizen is one of the first Zoöps (Zoöperations) in the Netherlands. A Zoöp is an organizational model and learning process for cooperation between human and more-than-human life.
Invitees include, among others, policymakers, legal experts, sustainability professionals, and (local) interested parties.
The following speakers will share how they give a voice to the interests of all nature in their decisions:
Jan van de Venis, legal expert with, among others, the Rights of Nature Foundation
Andrea Poelstra-Bos, council member for D66 in the municipality of Groningen
Bonnie Chopard, Speaker for the Living at Kunstfort Vijfhuizen
In addition, the invited guests will get to work themselves, using both their imagination and concrete questions.
The afternoon will also serve as a tribute to Luit Buurma, a passionate D66 member who helped put the subject of “rights of nature” on the map for many D66 members within and beyond Haarlemmermeer.
