Each year, Kunstfort takes part in Grazende Zwaan, the family festival at the Kleine Vennep estate. We do this together with our partners Podium for Architecture and Haarlemmermeer Museum de Cruquius.
In the grass between the birch trees on the estate, Kunstfort offers two creative workshops for children of different ages on both afternoons. They are informal, ongoing sessions where parents, grandparents, and carers are warmly invited to join in kneading, philosophising, building, blowing, and croaking.

KLABLOEM! – Make your own seed bomb
with Steven de Clercq
Seed bombs are mini creations full of potential: a handmade ball of clay, compost, and flower seeds that you can throw onto places where you want to see more life. They’re fun to make, surprising to spread—and exciting to follow. What will grow from your bomb?
During this workshop, we combine making with reflecting. About the landscape around us, blooming in unexpected places, and our own role in it. It is a sensory experience, with earth on your hands, the smell of compost, rustling leaves, and fluttering bees. Small acts, big meaning.
Kunstfort Vijfhuizen is an island of art, heritage, and ecology. Here, for example, experiments are carried out with art that works together with the landscape and living environment.
This is an accessible, playful workshop with room for creation and reflection. Together we make something tangible that reaches beyond the afternoon itself.
For those who want to leave something behind that grows!
Steven works at the intersection of nature, art, and community. He develops projects in which people, through making, experiencing, and reflecting, begin to see their surroundings differently—from neighbourhood gardens to interactive installations.

KWAAAK?! Learn frog code!
with Myra-Ida van der Veen
During this cheerful workshop, you’ll discover how to make your own frog instrument and learn to speak in secret croak language. Frogs are nature’s ultimate sound designers: with their clever croak sacs, they make their voices loud and filter out noise… a kind of natural noise-cancelling headphones. Artist Myra-Ida van der Veen is inspired by these talents and takes you into the world of sound experiments. Together, you’ll work with different materials to try out the craziest sounds.
At a large craft table in the grass, you’ll build your own kazoo—an instrument that can make your voice as loud as a frog’s. Once your masterpiece is finished, you’ll set off to send and receive Morse-like frog messages. Which vibrations make your kazoo the most fun?
Discover the magic of sound, become a master communicator, and transform into a super frog with your own secret frog code!
Parents are welcome!
Myra-Ida creates multimedia performances, builds electro-acoustic instruments, and works with voice use. She explores how the body, technology, and other people connect. She wants to understand how live performances and creative collaboration bring people closer together and how working together can foster connection and care within a community.
