Toon Fibbe & Laura Wiedijk: Cloning The Ghost

On November 7 Toon Fibbe (NL, 1987) and Laura Wiedijk (NL, 1985) present their research material that forms the basis for their intervention Cloning the Ghost in the Kunstfort. Inspired by Darwin’s book Fertilisation of Orchids, orchids were appropriated at the end of the 19th century by popular science fiction writers. The orchid transformed into the popular imagination of a beautiful, but passive flower, to a cunning seductive murderer. During this lecture the hidden sides of the orchid are elaborated upon and the role of the orchid within the history of its influence upon science. A strange cross-fertilization between science ánd fiction.
The lectur estarts at 7.30 PM at the Kunstfort and ends with a drink.
