Return to overview

Contested Desires: Constructive Dialogues (CDCD) is an international collaborative project exploring the problematic legacy of European colonialism. With a focus on international artistic production, exchange, and learning, the program offers unique opportunities for artists, curators, and museums to explore the inequalities and gaps within the current discourse. In 2025 and 2026, Kunstfort will host participating artists for residencies and provide space for staff from partner organizations to engage in exchange.

The project is funded in part through the European Union’s Creative Europe program, and the partnerships extend from Europe to Chile and Ghana. Our direct Dutch partners are H401 in Amsterdam and Creative Court in The Hague. During this multi-year project, 17 artist residencies will take place in more than 10 countries, creating new artworks that promote understanding and reveal untold stories of European colonization. The first residents will arrive at Kunstfort in late January 2025, where they will spend a month.
