Welcome to Kunstfort, Warre Mulder!

Return to overview

This week we welcomed Warre as our newest artist-in-residence. Over the next four weeks he will be experimenting in the Genieloods, which has been transformed into his temporary studio, while staying on the fort island.

During his residency Warre will explore how animated film can enrich his practice and how spoken word, narrative and a sense of magic might be integrated. He brought along a collection of homemade and found objects: ceramic figures that can become characters and cardboard boxes that will be shaped into stage-like sets.

Animation is a new field for Warre, who usually works mainly with sculpture.  Several of his sculptures are currently on view at the fort in the exhibition When the animals still spoke, which explores the age-old connection between myth, storytelling and more-than-human life.

Stay tuned for more updates on his process — and don’t miss the chance to see his work before the exhibition closes on 14 September.

Welcome Warre! We are very happy to have you with us.
