How do we as citizens, creators, the cultural sector and fellow governmental authorities collectively position ourselves in the new political reality?
On Sunday morning 1 September, Kunstfort’s director Rabiaâ Benlahbib will take part in the Paradisodebat 2024 | De Gemene Deler.
The debate revolves around the future of the cultural and creative sector in the context of the changing political landscape under the new Schoof cabinet. Specifically, it focuses on how the sector should navigate challenges posed by scarce resources and a government that does not seem to prioritize culture. The discussion will explore themes of resilience, solidarity, and community building in times of increasing polarization, as well as potential solutions like cooperatives, commons, and local councils. Additionally, the debate will address how the sector can collaborate with various levels of government to maintain a robust cultural ecosystem.
Under the guidance of Nadia Moussaid, people from inside and outside the cultural field will engage in discussions with politicians from the national, provincial, and municipal levels about the future of art and culture and the current political situation. The first debate will include Rabiaâ Benlahbib, Laura Mentink, Martijn van der Steen and Ilana Rooderkerk.
