On this day, you can experience The Ming Passion presented in collaboration with CruquiusConcerten. This contemporary performance explores the relationship between humans and the sea, centered on the true story of Ming, a 507-year-old bivalve clam discovered off the coast of Iceland in 2006. Ming’s annual rings provided vital climate change data, and its controversial death made headlines: “Scientists kill oldest living animal ever.”
Featuring VONK ensemble, soprano Sterre Konijn, and countertenor Kaspar Kröner, the performance combines a poetic libretto by Lisanne van Aert with music by Nicoline Soeter, and imaginative lighting by Floriaan Ganzevoort.
On this day, we are also excited to launch the publication BinnenAards by Valerie Van Leersum and designed by Esther de Vries. The publication is the result of her residency at the Kunstfort where she explored our personal and collective relationship with soil. You can also view the exhibition ‘If only we could master miracles’ at the fort that afternoon.
