In Memoriam: Holger Nickisch

Director of Kunstfort 2010–2016

Former Kunstfort director Holger Nickisch passed away last weekend.

His vision for and passion for contemporary visual arts were an inspiration to many. We are grateful for everything he contributed to the Kunstfort. Under his leadership, the Genieloods (Engineer’s Shed) was renovated, making it suitable for use all year round. On behalf of the Kunstfort, he also co-organised the Haarlemmermeer Ring Biennale and curated many indoor and outdoor exhibitions, including Van Zwaarden en Ploegen (Of Swords and Ploughshares), Luid Land (Loud Land), and Trailerpark (pictured).

Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.
