From Saturday 2 to Sunday 10 September the annual Fortresses festival takes place and the many forts of the Netherlands open their gates to the public with all kinds of events and exhibitions. On Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September, Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen will take part in the European Heritage Days 2023 – a Provincial monument and Unesco World Heritage Site since 2006. The 19th-century fort of the Defence Line of Amsterdam can be visited free of charge and free historical tours will be provided on both days at 13:30h and 15:00h. Gather at the main entrance.
