You are warmly invited to the finissage of our exhibition programme, If only we could master miracles, on Sunday, 15 December, from 14:00 to 17:00. The exhibition itself can be visited from 13:00h.
Suzette Bousema and Wilfred Kalf will add the final two months of air samples to the Contemporary Air Archive. This project stems from Suzette’s monthly visits to the Scheveningen coast, where she captures the sea breeze in delicate glass sculptures—preserving vital atmospheric data in response to climate change. Wilfred designed the special filing cabinets.
Also taking place is an interview with Suzette and Carina van der Veen, analyst and engineer at the ice core archive at Utrecht University. They will discuss the 20,000-year-old ice cores from Antarctica and Greenland, captured in Suzette’s photographs, which are also featured in the exhibition. Carina van der Veen has contributed to important projects like the NEEM (North Greenland Eemian Ice Drilling) ice core drilling in Greenland, which helps uncover past climate data. Her work focuses on analyzing ice cores and atmospheric samples to study historical climate conditions, crucial for understanding climate change.
On top of that, Annabel Quick will present an interactive installation combining live-streaming and heat-imaging technology in connection to her exhibited work about art conversation and fish glue. Justin Bennett will also perform a live sound piece, capturing sounds from the ether based on his research into the deepest man-made hole in history.
We hope you join us here at the fort and wonder about wonder!
