Have you ever found yourself in a game where your lead is so obvious that it no longer feels enjoyable? Or do you recognise the opposite extreme, when your chances have slipped away and you cannot finish without losing face?
Once the cards are dealt, there is no way back: fate has already set the course of the future, and you are left to come to terms with it.
The exhibition Shame of the shuffled cards reflects on the discomfort of inequality as it unfolds across borders and generations. With a blend of geopolitical urgency, playful irony, and layered paradoxes, the art projects raise sharp and unsettling questions about ethics, opportunity, choice and responsibility, and about how human actions both shape and are shaped by the course of world history.
Finissage
Sunday 14 September
14.00 – 17.00h
During the finsisage, you can take part in a rust walk by Dagmar Bosma, and attend a lecture by Anton Shebetko on Ukrainian queer art. Rafael Roncato will share edits of submitted videos connected to his work about former president Bolsonaro, who has just begun a long prison sentence. At the mist-filled work of ChihChung Chang, you can reflect on the choices we make as humanity in favour of comfort, and you’ll find dike-strengthening seeds from Bebe Blanco Agterberg’s project ready for you to plant or spread later on. Finally, you can let go of all your worries during the Survival Disco, right in the middle of the installation by Sebastian and Christoph Mügge!
