Speed Bump is the summer exhibition 2010 of Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen. The exhibition presents an overview of the art collection of Frans Oomen from Amsterdam.

Oomen has specialized in collecting art editions and multiples. These allow you to own an 'almost' original artwork by a famous artist for little money. And if you make clever choices, the material value might double or even increase tenfold in only a short time. But that is not the motive of most collectors. It is the unconditional passion for art itself, that turns ordinary people into 'crazy' art hunters, like Frans Oomen.
Speed Bump (the title of a photographic work by Alex Kals) is the first in a series of exhibitions about the fascination for collecting. Also, the Trenchart collection (artefacts from the trenches, crafted by the soldiers themselves) of collector S.F. Schütz will show in a particular context to Kunstfort in the autumn of this year.
