International Design Competition: "SILVER BULLET" gleaming winner!
On Saturday April 24, Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen proudly announced the winner of the International Design Competition for a Center for Contemporary Art, which was launched in December of 2009.
The main issue of the design competition was the reuse of a historic military engineers barrack, the “Genieloods”, on the premises of the fort.
The competition was won by a joint venture of the architects Office Jarrik Ouburg, Paulien Bremmer Architects and CC Studio. The Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen Foundation wishes to actually realise their winning design, “SILVER BULLET”.

Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen (Art Fortress at Vijfhuizen) announces an international competition for the design of a centre for contemporary art in a former military depot: the "Genieloods".
Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen is a centre for contemporary art housed in a former military fort near Amsterdam and the International Airport Schiphol. We are looking for intelligent and intriguing ideas to re-use the Genieloods for art exhibitions.
Submissions are sought from architects and designers with a fresh, innovative and contemporary approach.
Prijsuitreiking Architectuurprijs Haarlemmermeer 2010
Op zaterdag 26 juni wordt op het Kunstfort de Dag van de Architectuur gevierd.
Het Podium voor Architectuur Haarlemmermeer | Schiphol organiseert dan in de Genieloods de uitreiking van de Architectuurprijs Haarlemmermeer 2010. De prijs wordt dit jaar toegekend aan het beste ontwerp in het thema 'Hergebruik'. Ook het Kunstfort bij Vijfhuizen staat weer op de nominatielijst.
Rond de bekendmaking van de prijswinnaar zijn er vanaf 's middags 13.30u. verschillende activiteiten georganiseerd, waaronder een tentoonstelling over het hergebruik van de Genieloods van het Kunstfort. Ook voor kinderen is er wat leuks te doen.
